The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office (OWWA-RWO) VI recently announced that it will offer FREE Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills trainings to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their dependents this summer. This is in line with the thrust of OWWA in advocating “unlimited potential” programs for OFWs and their dependents.

The ICT training includes 24 hours of basic computer fundamentals covering Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and advance fundamentals. The Advance Program shall include 15 hours of Photoshop training, 30 hours of programming, and 15 hours of movie editing.
The basic course is offered from Monday to Friday at 8:00-11:00 a.m., 1:00-4:00 p.m., and 5:00-8:00 p.m.
The advance courses are offered from Monday to Friday at 8:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-4:00 p.m. and every Saturday at 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
According to OWWA, any OFW beneficiary or vacationing OFWs themselves can enroll in the training program. Children aged eight years old and above can also enroll in the basic computer fundamental course classes. Graduating high school students or college students registering in any of the advance courses shall be given priority.
A Certificate of Completion will only be issued by OWWA-RWO VI to applicants who will be able to finish their chosen training course.
The ICT summer classes will start on April 1, 2013. Applications forms are now available at OWWA RWO VI, Room 206, AJL Building, General Luna Street, Iloilo City.
